For my mom ...

People often ask me “How did you ever get into this?”  Well, I started this journey when I was a kid, way back in North Carolina.  I wasn’t much more than perhaps nine or ten when I realized how much I enjoyed photographing just about anything.  My momma bought me my first Kodak instamatic.  It was one of those Kodak 110 cameras if you can remember when.  But it did the trick!  We didn’t have much money back then and that was about all that momma and daddy could afford.  But… as I got older and grew better at using it, along came a few awards with the NC 4-H clubs.  And I was really hooked then…  And then one Christmas, to my surprise momma and daddy gave me my first “REAL” camera, the Minolta SRT 101.  Wow!  I had arrived!  Who knew!!!

That journey began those many years ago.  I haven’t arrived just yet, but I continue to work hard at it.  But the truth is, I don’t think one EVER arrives at their final destination.  Because when you do, the journey is over, isn’t it?  So I keep moving on.

Today I especially thank my mom and dad for all their love and support those many years ago.  It seems like only yesterday to me, and I know it isn’t…

Momma, everything I am… everything that I’m going to be, came from you especially.  For that, I will always be grateful.

I love you ....
